Choosing & Managing Skins

Choosing skins from the Hotbar site: If you wish you may browse the Hotbar site and choose skins. You select a skin by clicking on the image of it. Wait a few seconds the skin is being downloaded into your hardrive and once downloaded it will load up automatically as a skin to your browser. If you choose a new skin, it will download that skin as well and will put up the new skin on your browser. You can do this repeatedly from the website.

Choosing Skins from *THIS* site: Browse the skin galleries on my site (and thank you for visiting ^+^). If you see a skin you want click on the link and save it into the following directory on your machine "C:\Program Files\Hotbar\" Once there it will be viewable in your skins manager. (Note: If you wish to make your own skins they're easy. Dimensions should be 800 pixels wide and 135 pixels high and should be saved as a bitmap image with 256 colors, and the files should be saved to the SAME directory.) Make sure that you're saving the actual bitmap file and not the jpeg preview of the file.



The Skins List: If you wish to see what skins you have, edit the skins (by deleting ones you no longer desire), or choose a new skin then you need to select the "My Private Collection" button on the My Hotbar. It is pictured above and a highlighted the button in green for your reference. Once selected it should load up and look something like this:



Keep in mind that all these skins are on your hardrive, not on the site, despite the fact that you're viewing this seemingly online from their site.

If you wish to remove a skin permanently from your list then click on the remove skin button, this will delete the image from your hardrive and your list.

If you wish to choose a new skin from this list, simply click on the image of the skin.

If you wish to reset your browser and unskin it back to default settings, return to the main page www.hotbar.com, and click on the "Clear Skin" button under the "My Hotbar" box. Below, I highlighted the button for you in pink for your reference.



Instead of having to go to "My Private Collection" to switch to a new skin, you can do so by using the "Last Skin" and "next Skin" options on "My Hotbar." This will move you back, or forwards through your skins list one skin at a time.

That's how it all works, it's fairly straightforward once you get the hang of it. Though do expect some difficulties with the skins. Since some of the formats differ between the design of the various browsers such as Internet Explorer or Netscape a skin may look great in one browser, horrid in the next. Soem browsers will enable you to change some of the layout features of your browser and you may be able to accomodate the skin. You're just going to have to see which skins fits like a glove.
